Batch date+time editing
červenec 23, 2007 10:33
I took about 800 pictures with my camera, that was set 7 hours ahead of the actual time (the pics where taken in diferent time zone).
How can i change the batch, automaticaly, so that the time, and the date if requiered, will be changed in 7 hours from the time registered in the exif?
thanks in advance...

I'm sorry, I don't know how to do this at this time. Both in ExifEditor and some other application.

Maybe in next version :-) I wrote note for future.

The current version 2.1.2959.19464 (Mar 2008) seems to have this feature included. However, when using it, it also sets the XP Date/Time Stamp of the subject file to the "current" date/time. You normally don't want this. May I request to keep the file's original date/timestamp, or at least an option to keep it.

I am also using the editor to fix a timezone adjustment, and my ideal sitauation would be that you can also change the File's data/time stamp accordingly. i.e. not only EXIF tags.

You are right, date/time functions was included from version 2.1.xxxx. I will take a look at modification date of file in next minor version.

But on principle: technically this is nonsense, when you edit EXIF info, you MUST create and save a new file every time (with current modification date). However is not hard to retain original modification date of file (and creation, etc...), or set any other date. I will try to add 3 new options: a) set current date (default), b) same date as EXIF, c) don't modify date, i.e. retain original date when a picture was taken.

OK?

YES !! OK !!

Most (easy) pictureviewers can sort files only on file's date/time stamp, i.e. not on exif info. When you collect pictures from multiple camera's in one folder, you'd like to have control on that info. Thanks for your reply. Very nice program.

Hello,

I am pleased to inform you a new version of ExifEditor (v2.2) was just released.

It has entirely new save file dialog, you can choose, how to operate with modification time of JPEG files.

You can download it from [www.kiwiczech.net].

Have a nice day!

Works GREAT. I can now do exactly what I want when changing (all) date/times due to time zone: Change all three date/times available in EXIF data to new date/time, and then when committing/saving the changes, select the third option (Same as Exif tag) and then pick anyone of them. Good thinking to take the changed value of these exif tags.

Another big improvement is the default option to leave the date/time stamp unchanged when making (other) changes to EXIF info. I think this option is better as default than setting it to "current".

Thanks-a-lot !!

You are welcome:-)

To next release I'm preparing remember last user settings from save dialog.

You can read my mind !! How scary is that?

Also perhaps remembering the last user settings for advanced date/time changes? That way, if I want to change all three Exif date/times, the second and third will have e.g. "Move backwards" and "9 hours" already selected from the first change.

As an alternative, since there are only three date/time settings in EXIF, you could put three checkboxes against those three at the bottom part of the Advanced Features.

But I am already very happy with the current version !

Can someone please explain how I can do a batch edit? Or even a bulk edit of adding 1 to each year but keeping day, time etc the same?

I had my date set wrong, so I have about 50 photos that I need to change from 2008 to 2009 but I can't figure out how do it without doing it one by one.

Thanks.
