GPS editing
December 06, 2006 02:33AM
Hi,
I would like to add GPS coordinates to the EXIF of a photo.
The coordinates may be: N 51° 27´ 10´´ and E 7° 14´ 12´´
What values have I to insert in the "new exif tag"?
Thanks,
fhy

See EXIF 2.2 specification, page 52, [www.exif.org]. I have no experience with GPS tags till this time.

Hi, I'm new here (unlike the thread) and found this software whilst trying to solve the problem of geotagging jpgs. To inject new latitude and longitude data manually, I'm not sure what format to type in or whether additional fields like GPS version need to be filled too for the tagging to then work correctly with say Google Maps. Reading the Exif2-2 standard document hasn't solved this. Anyone got any example GPS-tagged jpgs or advice?

Hello,

you have more ways how to inject GPS data into JPEGs...

At first, you can enter GPS coordinates manually in format DD° G" MM.MM', for example: 50° 18" 37'.

Second method is easier... use embedded tool called 'geotagger', from Tools menu. In this tool you are able to simple point any place on map using by pushpin and assign this coordinates to any JPEGs. When all files are assigned, just save these changes to files.

At last, you can use command line tool called MEcmd, here is a online help: [www.kiwiczech.net]. This tool is best for batch geotagging of many images at one step, by track file(s) from GPS device (GPX format).

... last important notice: all previously described GeoTagging features are available in MetaEditor only! Not in ExitEditor, which is unsupported quite long time.
