EXIFeditor - support for non-czech users

i'm sorry but ExifEditor is developed as FREEWARE not under GNU license. In other words - source code is not free.

However there is .NET class ExifReader from Michal Altair Valasek on the internet. This class is core of the ExifEditor.

Hello, after using ExifEditor for two days, I've got several suggestions on how to improve it-

1. Add an option to 'do not recompress' jpeg data. Maybe enabled by default. As I heard, the process of recompressing jpeg is almost lossless, but this is still a bad thing. I want to edit tags only, not even touching image data.

2. Also, unicode in comment/other_text_fields should be optional. More than half of existing image viewers still do not understand it.

3. Is it possible to make command line utility similar to eecmd that works not with actions but with exported tag templates? That will import tags from xml or txt file (tags, not actions) into specified file(s). If possible, erasing all previous tags in file.

btw... Thanks for the program. Not a ultimate solution for me, but still one of rare-to-find simple and powerful tools. Combined with exiftools, it is very useful.

thanks for the suggestions and ideas. Will try to answer individual points.

ad 1. As I already wrote several times before, it is impossible (the current version of EXIFeditor) to save the metadata in JPEG files without re-compression. The application is written in the NET Framework 2.0, and there is no other way to save the changes. But I have good news for you :-). I'm working on the new version, which already will be able to save changes without re-compression. The environment NET Framework 3.0 already allows that (even if there are certain restrictions). The new version should be ready soon.

ad 2. UserComment with Unicode encoding: I'll check on it. I think that it would not be a problem.

ad 3. I do not know if it has not been somewhat destructive, when all the tags would be rewritten. I can imagine, if they take only selected. But all? Is it practicable?
